Military Culture: Leadership and Introspection Why must more attention be accorded to intuition in the military? Because, as observers increasingly argue, leaders employ the textbook analytical method to decision-making perhaps one time in ten, while relying in the main upon intuitive evaluation.10 And yet, educational institutions, military and civilian, still frequently depict decision-making as a systematic thought process entailing scrutinization of multiple options. The disconnect is noteworthy: we are not training and educating the way we lead. Not to put too fine a point on things: military education is asleep at the switch.
The role of intuition in management and leadership Intuition in management means the ability to think strategically, motivate others and have a feel for people, trends and tendencies. Intuition does not denote something contrary to reason.
The recognition of intuition as a major component of management is that many successful business executives and professionals now openly admit that they have learned to trust their intuition more.

The role of intuition in management and leadership The conventional approach to management based on analytical problem solving can no longer cope with accelerating change, complexity, uncertainty and conflict.
MANAGEMENT BY INTUITION I am convinced that is why bureaucrats in Washington think they are going to "solve" the inner-city education problem in America with MORE money, the health care crisis with MORE regulation, and the energy crunch in California with MORE oversight. The intuitive conclusion seems to be, more often than not, MORE of the same.
MANAGEMENT BY INTUITION Intuition is based on the lessons of the past. Trusting our intuition is the most natural of all things. That could be the reason that Russell Kirk wrote, "Surely we learn from history that we learn nothing from history."
